School is where most people will experience hockey for the first time. Hockey Wales as a National Governing body have great ambitions for the sport over the coming years and recognise the important role that schools can play in supporting these ambitions.

4689 Programme

Our junior route to get involved in hockey. 4869 allows each child to progress at the right level for them, whilst still getting the full learning experience.

Some of the benefits of 4869 for Schools and clubs include:

  • Links to the Curriculum
  • A resource which will provide an opportunity for all abilities
  • Teaching hockey through game-based play
  • Opportunities for more children to play
  • Leadership opportunities built in for young people at an early stage

We wish to ensure that every young person enjoys a quality hockey experience and work with key organisations such as Local Authority Sports Development, PE and School Sport teams to help achieve this goal.

If you’re a primary school interested in participating in hockey but you’re not sure on the best way to get involved, please get in touch today for more information.
